Potassium Chloride from NOW is a sodium-free potassium supplement that can be used as a table salt substitute.  Potassium is a mineral and is the principal positive ion in cells.  It is used by your body to support muscle contraction, normal kidney function, nerve conduction and cellular nutrient transfer, among other functions.  Potassium is essential for growth and general good health and has many important actions in the body.

Potassium can improve blood pressure, fatigue, stress, and headaches, and glucose transfer which affects weight. It helps to maintain proper electrolyte balance in body and is essential for proper muscle function, and is instrumental in conducting nerve impulses.

When on a weight loss program, it is especially important to take supplemental potassium. Weight loss can reduce the enzyme activity that controls the flow of potassium and sodium by as much as 20 percent.  Symptoms of low potassium levels include muscle weakness and/or muscle cramps, fatigue, and lack of energy. Other indications for a deficiency of potassium include inactive reflexes, abnormal heartbeat, heart palpitations, anemia and severe headaches.

Potassium-deficient people may also experience high blood pressure, pain in their intestines, swelling in their glands and diabetes as serious side effects of this deficiency. The most common cause of muscle cramps during weight loss is inadequate potassium intake.

Serving Size:  1/4 Teaspoon

Suggested Usage:  As a dietary supplement, take 1/4 teaspoon daily, preferably added to friut or vegetable juice.  Consider taking this product in combination with NOW® L-Tyrosine, Magnesium and Taurine.

Other Ingredients:  Magnesium Carbonate (0.5% as flow agent).
