Lecithin is a naturally occurring compound found in all cells in nature, plant and animal.  It plays a major role in almost  all biological processes - including nerve transmission, breathing and energy production.  The word Lecithin is taken from the Greek Lekithos, which means "egg yolk".  A fitting name for this essential nutrient for the egg is considered a symbol of life, strength and fertility.

Lecithin is considered a symbol of life, strength and fertility.  It is important for all of these biological functions and more.  Our brain is approximately 30% Lecithin.  The insulating myelin sheaths that protect the brain, spine and thousands of miles of nerves in your body are almost two-thirds Lecithin.  Even the heart has a high concentration of Lecithin.

Lecithin is composed of many different components, including Choline, Inositol, Linoleic Acid, Phosphatidylserine, beneficial fatty acids and triglycerides.  These valuable constituents of Lecithin are vital for the proper functioning of many metabolic  processes.
It is one of nature’s miracle foods, found naturally in foods like egg yolks and organ meats, so taking lecithin is an inexpensive way to add its incredible powers to your supplement program.

Fight memory loss:

Memory issues? One of the ingredient in lecithins, choline, may be just what you need. Your body uses choline to produce acetylcholine, a substance involved in learning, memory, muscle function, sleep, arousal, hormone secretion and circulation.  It allows nerve cells to send impulses properly. Recent research has shown that two tablespoons of lecithin daily helps mild memory problems associated with aging.

Lecithin has been shown to aid the brain in memory and learning. Studies conducted on the effects of lecithin on the brain lean towards a conclusion that users of the supplement are likely to experience increased memory and ability to recall specific information. The benefits of lecithin on the brain are promising to patients who may be suffering from Alzheimer's disease or other memory-specific neurological conditions. Improved memory and recall is a sign of a brain's overall standard of health, and may imply benefits that extend to orientation and cognitive thought processes.

Heart health:

Lecithin is abundant in inositol, a B-vitamin-like substance. Your body uses inositol to help maintain healthy cholesterol and blood pressure levels already within the normal range, grow healthy hair and skin, and help break down body fat. By adding lecithin to your diet, you’ll provide some of the raw materials your cardiovascular system needs to stay healthy. As a tool for heart health, lecithin also works to reverse and prevent damages that may arise from coronary artery disease. Preventing cholesterol and other fats from sticking is a vital function for the overall health of anyone with a predisposition to heart disease and other cardiovascular afflictions.

The lubrication provided by lecithin creates a slippery lining on which it is difficult for large, fatty deposits to adhere. When large deposits of fat cannot adhere to specific regions of the body, they are transported to the liver where they are metabolized and converted to energy. Improved circulation seen as a result of lecithin supplementation helps to prevent blood clots and maintain the health of the liver through which excess fats and energy-providing substances will pass.

Since lecithin is essentially composed of fat, it can act as a protective wall or sheath throughout the body to protect and strengthen membranes and prevent detrimental debris from sticking. Internal parts and mechanisms that may be affected negatively by hardening, such as arteries, are kept malleable by lecithin in a natural way through supplementation. Patients suffering from atherosclerosis often start a regimen of lecithin in an effort to reverse the condition's effects.

Neurological conditions:

Pharmacological use of lecithin includes treatment for neurologic disorders and dementias. Lecithin is a good source of choline for treatment in dementias. Phosphatidylcholine is thought to be a precursor for acetylcholine synthesis. Choline increases the accumulation of Ach within the brain. Ach is important for many brain functions including memory, so increasing concentration of this neurotransmitter may result in improved memory. Variable results occur using lecithin supplementation for treatment of neurologic disorders.

Liver/Cholesterol effects Lecithin also is used to treat liver ailments and hypercholesterolemia. The mechanism appears to be enhancement of cholesterol metabolism in the digestive system. Lecithin seems to possess properties in reducing cholesterol levels and controlling atherosclerosis.  Lecithin is also believed to have positive effects in the repair of livers damaged by any number of conditions, including excess consumption of alcohol or other toxins.

Who should take lecithin
 •Those experiencing age-related memory impairment.
• Dieters – to ensure an ample supply ofsubstances that help break down body fat.
• Those concerned about heart, brain, vein & liver health.
• Everyone can benefit by taking nuttrient dense lecithin.
