Butterbur (Petasites hybridus) is a native shrub of Europe, North America, and Asia that has been used by the herbalists for centuries.  Modern scientific studies have demonstrated that Butterbur supports healthy blood flow to the brain and healthy neurological function.

It works to inhibit the release of two inflammatory substances, serotonin and prostaglandins, both believed to contribute to the onset of migraines.

By inhibiting these amines as well as the production of the chemical histamine, the herb controls inflammation that constricts the blood vessels in the head and prevents blood vessel spasms which may contribute to headaches. In many studies, both the intensity of the person’s migraines, and the frequency of them, were decreased as long as the person was taking feverfew every single day.
